By the eighth year of making Robot Friday I felt like I had finally nailed my voice and art style. With that foundation in place I was ready to push my writing and storytelling further, exploring deeper character development and more meaningful story arcs. While I had done parody mash-ups in the past - fun, but not particularly thoughtful or impactful - I now wanted to tell stories that truly reflected who these characters were and where their lives were headed.
At its core, Robot Friday is satire and I always approached it from that mindset. My golden rule was that if the world took something seriously I was going to make fun of it. And that philosophy led to what I can only describe as THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER WRITTEN!

I don't know if writers recognize their best work as they're creating it, I certainly didn't, but I do know that when it hits, you just know. And deep down, you also know you may never top it. That's how I feel about It's Bro Time. From the humor to the art to the biting satire, everything clicked. I can only hope that one day I'll outdo it, but that's going to be a tough mountain to climb.
Looking back, I probably should have ended Robot Friday right then and there. That storyline wrapped up loose ends, brought the gang's lives together onto one cohesive timeline, and honestly felt like the perfect mic-drop moment. But now that I was on a roll this rock wasn't stopping. Until it did.
