Up until this point, my approach to writing Robot Friday was pretty straightforward: follow the trends, see what other cartoonists were talking about, and find a way to poke fun at it all. It was a solid strategy for a while - helping me find my footing as a comic writer - but I soon realized it wasn't a true reflection of my actual life. Plus, those kinds of trend-based storylines had a short shelf life, fading into irrelevance as soon as the next big thing came along.
Meeting Karen changed everything. I went from floundering through life, living day to day, to having someone else to consider in every decision. That shift in focus bled into my work, making me think more intentionally about the kind of stories I wanted to tell in Robot Friday - and, by extension, where the characters were headed in their own lives. I stopped worrying about what other cartoonists were writing and started focusing on what I wanted to say to the world. And with that, Robot Friday entered a new chapter - one that felt more genuine, personal, and lasting.
During this time, life came at us fast. Karen and I got married. We went on a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon cruise. We moved in together. A year later, we bought our first home. Meanwhile, Robot Friday was gaining traction online, and I figured it was time to start printing book collections - especially since I had also started dipping my toe into the world of comic conventions.

Everything was falling into place, and for the first time, the future of Robot Friday felt brighter than ever.
